I have been a counselor for a very long time and have handled all kinds of problems of people. I find it very important to spend time listening as those in trouble open their hearts. Much of healing has to do with sharing one’s pain with others, most especially those who have undergone similar experiences.
I encourage you to make use of the forums to share whatever you feel the need to unburden.
I do not want the forums to become nasty and in bad taste. Rather they should act as support groups. I urge you to participate in encouraging those who are hurting.

Sexually Abused
I have done extensive work with both men and women who have been sexually abused. They have suffered the consequences of their abuse for years. Most often they have never shared their pain with anyone. I have found that by keeping so much hurt inside; they compound their suffering. Most were victims of childhood abuse and had no real guilt because they were too young. They were victims of adults who betrayed their trust. Instead of accepting that they were victims, they take upon themselves the guilt of their abusers and walk through life suffering from the painful memories of those who victimized them.
This forum is created so that you who are hurting can find a measure of relief and encouragement to face your pain and deal with it without fear of rejection. What victims of sexual abuse are looking for is understanding and comfort and this forum has been created for precisely that purpose. – Bob Garon

Battered Women
There is more violence against women than anyone can imagine. Most of it goes unreported. Women who suffer from physical violence are also hurt by the emotional and verbal abuse that the abusive man uses to dominate and control them. This forum will allow them a measure of comfort. By sharing with others who are in similar circumstances, they will no longer feel alone as most victims of abuse do.
I urge you to share and encourage one another, thereby easing the tremendous burden that you are carrying. The sharing should be frank and honest, but at the same time, supportive of one another. By opening your hearts and trusting, you allow others to help carry your burdens.

War on Addiction
Yes, it is a war out there and people are dying. Dying from excessive alcohol use and overdoses of drugs. Those who don’t die have loved ones who watch as the lives of those they care for spin out of control. Health problems, trouble with the law, conflict in the family, all sorts of pain is self-inflicted and spill over on families and friends.
If you have or are still using drugs; if you are a friend of a parent who has suffered because of the addiction of a loved one; or if you are someone who simply cares about the drug problem, I invite you to share your thoughts, experiences and your pain as well as some accounts of those courageous ones who have fought hard to overcome and remains sober.
Whatever it is you might shared could help someone who heeds help and/or inspiration.
